Help Haiti Blog Challenge
Feeling overwhelmed by the suffering in Haiti, I was inspired by Kelly Diels "Help Haiti Blog Challenge" and realized the best way to give of myself was to donate the full proceeds of a painting to the Red Cross. "Rushing River" is an acrylic painting 30" x 24" value: $950 Please start offers at $200 You can contact me at hollyfriesen@gmail.com
If you feel you would like to contribute to this collective blog effort in coming to the aid of Haiti please check out Kelly's blog for more info.

Great post,
love and peace.
Aleksandra
do you think it is right to promote your work on the back of a disaster ?
Things like this make a mockery out of the aide workers who are giving their time and effort to actually help.
There is no viture, just selfishness in your act.
Anonymous: You have made some very strong remarks w/out revealing your own identity. Yes, I have considered the "self-promotion" aspect of this way to raise money for Haiti. I have nothing else to offer and I am horrified by the suffering, it is the best I could do. I do not consider Art to be a commodity but a part of my life and therefore an offering of myself. I certainly don't see how trying to find a way to send resources (money) to the aide workers of Haiti is making a mockery of them. I don't seek virtue I seek pragmatic solutions to a horrifying situation that affects all of us as interbeings. Your cruel words cut deeply and I question your own motives when you hide behind anonymity.
Hey, Anonymous! What are you doing to help? Hiding behind your computer monitor while you snipe at people trying to do something?
I'm sure you've made the world a better place by setting someone straight for raising $1,000 for the Red Cross. Thanks.
Thanks for your support Dirk! :)
I also received a very kind email from Nancy Mills in response to anonymous:
Anonymous- The world needs many more people like Holly. She is truly a gifted artist and one of the few people who actually walk their talk. I was sad to read your mean-spirited entry. It's obvious that you don't know Holly at all, or you would certainly have realized that she would NEVER offer a painting for self promotion.
Keep going Holly, I really love your work :-)
Truly,
Nancy
Anonymous has reminded me of the power of our
words to harm or to heal. I am truly grateful for all the gentle and gracious encounters I have experienced along my journey and can only hope to try and do the same for others.
The bidding is now closed and this painting belongs to Matt Dickerson, who generously bid $1000 which will be sent directly to the Red Cross efforts in Haiti.
Thank-you for your kindness Cathyann and nice to meet you. Your work is lovely and I look forward to more artistic exchanges with you.
hey holly,
our freind "Anonymous" can only give cheap shots, its all he/she has to offer, what the hell is Anonymous doing?
proud of your effort, proud of you as a human. fine artwork by the way.

Thanks jb :) The painting managed to raise $1000 and is being donated in full to Red Cross. We can only hope that the money helps to bring light to some small, dark corner of a dire and desperate situation.
A nice and noble thing to do,
there should be more people like you,
forget about that anonymous folly,
and be proud of yourself miss Holly :)
