Blessing of Solitude

There is a tension between the solitude and loneliness that I am living at the moment. This beautiful blessing by the late John O'Donahue was recently sent to me by a friend.

May you recognize in your life the presence, power and light of your soul,
May you realize that you are never alone,
that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you
intimately with the rhythm of the universe.
May you have respect for your own individuality and difference.
May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that you have a special destiny here,
that behind the facade of your life there is something beautiful, good and eternal happening.
May you learn to see yourself with the same delight, pride and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.

A fellow blogger, JB Krost had the courage to paint and post a painting of what his soul looked like and challenged me to do the same.  The above image is a shimmering of my soul but as Rumi says,

"Presence plays with form, fleeing and hiding as the sky does in water, now one place, now nowhere.  What you thought to draw now lifts off the paper, as what you love slips from your heart."

Your excellent piece reminds me of a perfect match for Thomas Wolfe's, "The Hills Beyond"
